The bits all fit perfectly into the laser cut holes, so there's no more bumping your player boards and having the cubes and rockets scatter. Plus it's much easier to follow this design than the cardboard mats that came with the game (I'm not the only one that finds those confusing, am I?).
There are 5 acrylic player boards in the set. Since they're all plastic, you don't have to worry about spills or grime -- just wipe them off. :-)
